The pandemic, which started at the end of 2019, has radically changed the working principles of companies around the world as well as our personal lives. Many companies have continued to work from home system after the end of the pandemic.

However, some obsessive managers are constantly trying to spy on their non-office employees through meetings and other methods. Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, one of the largest technology companies in the world, addressed these bosses.

85% of managers do not trust their employees

According to a survey conducted in companies using the Teams application, released by Microsoft as a competitor to Zoom, 85% of senior managers in companies do not trust their employees from home and think that they do not work well enough. 87% of those who work from home stated that they work from home, they work more efficiently and they can stay overtime because they are less tired.

Microsoft’s CEO, on the other hand, addressed the managers in his statement, saying that they should not constantly spy on their employees with meetings, audio and video calls, and told them to trust their employees. Jared Spataro, Vice President of the company, told Bloomberg that “Although Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft products aim to create a virtual office environment for home workers, we do not find it right to use these systems to spy on employees,” and explained that their applications are used for wrong purposes.

“Use Microsoft Viva to increase productivity”

Nadella, the company’s CEO, also said in a statement to Bloomberg that managers who are concerned about the productivity and adaptability of employees should train them instead of spying on them. Nadella announced that they introduced the Microsoft Viva system months ago to ease the productivity concerns of managers in training and collaborative projects. This system, which is used over Microsoft Teams, is described as an employee experience platform that brings together all of the information, project resources and training provided to employees and allows companies to inform tens or even hundreds of employees at the same time.

In addition to the data added by the managers on the platform, employees can also score their working conditions and their managers’ behavior towards them, thanks to anonymous surveys organized by the company.
