The App Store prepared by Apple for Vision Pro glasses will include all compatible iPhone and iPad applications “by default”. In an update on Tuesday, Apple said it will release the new App Store alongside the developer beta of visionOS this fall.

Vision Pro’s store will be very large

Both iPad and iPhone apps will appear alongside visionOS apps in the new App Store. As Apple has previously said, it will automatically transfer iOS and iPadOS apps to the new mixed reality operating system “without any additional work.” Developers will be able to continue optimizing their applications if necessary.

“By default, your iPad and/or iPhone apps will be automatically published to the App Store on Apple Vision Pro,” Apple states in its statement. Many frameworks found in iPadOS and iOS are also included in visionOS, so almost all iPad and iPhone applications can run on visionOS without modification.

Developers also have the option to create an app for Vision Pro using Apple’s visionOS software development kit. Apple started accepting applications for Vision Pro developer kits in July, giving developers plenty of time to play with the device before it officially launches early next year. We might even hear more about Apple’s plans for the Vision Pro at the iPhone 15 event on September 12. Meanwhile, the Vision Pro will be released early next year for a price of $3,500.
