Amazon Web Services is among the technology giant’s most important sources of income and forms the infrastructure of many internet services. AWS is known as the world’s most comprehensive and popular cloud service.
Wanting to maintain this advantage, Amazon is organizing an event called AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas to announce its innovations. Many new features were announced on the first day of the event. We have compiled those features for you.
Note: The event is currently ongoing and we will announce new features to be announced on the second day.
Amazon Q
The biggest announcement of the day, Amazon Q, is an artificial intelligence chat bot developed to serve AWS customers. AWS CEO Adam Selipsky stated that this bot can easily chat, produce content and take action. This customizable bot can also be accessed from different platforms. Especially operational processes can be facilitated with Amazon Q.
Guardrails for Amazon Bedrock
With Guardrails for Amazon Bedrock, companies will be able to define the language a model will use and impose restrictions. For example, thanks to this model, artificial intelligence chat bots will not answer questions on topics that are unrelated to the company’s work.
New chips: AWS Trainium2 and Graviton4
Amazon also introduced its two new chips at the event. The first of these chips is Trainium2, which will replace the first generation Trainium, which has twice the electricity consumption and four times better performance than previous Trainium chips. The other chip was Graviton4, which will be used in inferred operations. This chip has 30% better performance, 50% more cores and 75% higher memory bandwidth. Both chips will be used in artificial intelligence studies.
Amazon S3 Express One Zone
Amazon announced a major enhancement to its S3 object storage service. With S3 Express One Zone, it will be possible to achieve 10 times better performance than the standard S3 object storage service. This feature will provide a great advantage in artificial intelligence training and calculations requiring high capacity.
Serverless services are coming
Amazon Web Services also introduced three new serverless service packages at the re:Invent event. In these service packages offered for Aurora, ElastiCache and Redshift, while Amazon handles the hardware and back-end part of the work, customers will be able to work with minimal hardware needs and without the need to establish an IT unit.
Payments are now in the palm of our hand
Another service introduced by AWS was new handheld scanners. With these browsers, people will be able to authenticate when entering and exiting a place. Additionally, this system can be added to Amazon One’s own biometric payment methods.
Virtual desktop environment
Amazon’s new $195 tool creates virtual desktop environments. This virtual desktop, included in the Fire TV Cube hardware, allows companies to operate without investing in large technology infrastructures.
