Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has launched Beijing Winter Olympics-themed NFTs. The Alibaba NFT collection will be on sale until February 20, the winter games end date.
Celebrating four major sports events at the 2022 Winter Olympics with its NFT collection, Alibaba said the following on the subject;
“Owners of NFTs may not use these digital collections for any commercial purpose.”
These ‘digital collections’ offered for sale by Alibaba are designed in traditional Chinese art style as badges depicting four sports: speed skating, aerial freestyle skiing, slope style and figure skating.
The inaugural NFT collection, with 8,888 copies of each badge, will be available for purchase on Alibaba’s “Taobao” and “Tmall” online marketplaces until February 20, the winter games closing date.
The first NFT in the collection, featuring a speed skater crossing the finish line, sold out soon after its release on Saturday.
