Alchemy, a Web3 infrastructure platform backed by companies like a16z, Coatue and Lightspeed Ventures, announced its first acquisition by acquiring Ethereum developer education platform ChainShot.

ChainShot offers live and instructor-led Ethereum developer bootcamps. The agreement will allow Alchemy to develop its educational offerings that include Web3 University.

Next Step Integrating with ChainShot

In the statement that came after Alchemy’s acquisition of ChainShot, the following was said about the subject:

“As for the next steps, our goal is to make the integration of ChainShot programs and ours as smooth and seamless as possible for students,” he said. “We’re still working out how the pieces will fit together, but one thing is for sure: all of ChainShot’s course content that previously cost more than $3,000 will be 100 percent free.”

Founded in 2017 by Nikil Viswanathan and Joe Lau, Alchemy’s business model is based on providing application programming interfaces or APIs to companies that want to develop blockchain services. These include APIs for node infrastructure, transaction history, and NFT functionality, among other use cases.

APIs allow businesses to more easily access each other’s systems, and Alchemys have been used in the past by crypto firms like OpenSea, Dapper Labs, and Axie Infinity. Recently, as interest in Web3 has grown, Meta has included newcomers to the crypto space such as Shopify and Adobe. In the last few months, Solana and Polkadot integration has also been added, which powers a large number of compatible blockchains.
