Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 in Kahramanmaraş caused great destruction in the surrounding provinces, especially in Adıyaman, Hatay and Kahramanmaraş. While the prisons of more than ten thousand citizens have been reached, it is estimated that there are so many citizens under the rubble that we do not want to mention the number of them.
Search and rescue efforts in the region are hampered by the failure to restore mobile connectivity in the region after the base stations and electricity networks are destroyed/damaged. While all efforts for communication continue, an important sharing came from the President of Defense Industry today.
Aksungur UAV started to act as a base station:
İsmail Demir, President of the Presidency of Defense Industry of the Republic of Turkey, announced that the Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicle started to transmit instant images in the earthquake zone and to provide mobile phone communication service with the base station on it. It was noted that the technology was applied for the first time.
