Giovanni De Luca, 19, who works at Florida International Airport, was arrested on two separate charges of theft. According to information conveyed by Florida police, two of your suitcases disappeared in one day at the airport. The teams, who realized that there was a thief at the airport, caught this person thanks to the suitcase with AirTag.
De Luca, who stole two suitcases in one day, did not know that one of these bags had an AirTag. The victim passenger, who said that he could follow his suitcase with AirTag, informed the police about the location of his suitcase. It was reported that the address shown by AirTag belonged to the 19-year-old airport employee.
Stating that De Luca took two bags home on the same day, Florida’s Okaloosa County Sheriff said they recovered more than $1600 in money and jewelry. Giovanni De Luca is facing two major theft charges.
AirTag emits a secure Bluetooth signal in the Find My network that nearby devices can detect. These devices send the location of the AirTag to iCloud, so that the exact location of the tracker tracked over the Find network can be shown on the map.
Analysis results of more than 150 police reports have been shared in the past 8 months. Nearly half of these are cases of theft and robbery, and the other half are harassment cases involving tracking women using the Apple AirTag.
