The fact that thousands of graduate engineers changed their industries to become software developers brought up a new problem after the chip crisis. The popularity of languages ​​such as Python, Java, C++ or JavaScript and making huge amounts of money has led to a new deficit in other engineering branches such as electrical and electronics.

According to the report on VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration), held at the Technology and Circuits Symposium, hardware companies have started to expand their production capacities. This situation has increased the need for engineers who will work in different fields of electricity and electronics, from microchip to server-sized circuits.

Speaking at the symposium, Intel executive Raja Koduri; believes it may experience an “electrical-electronics engineer crisis” as the world’s largest chip companies expand their supply chains. Chip giants such as Intel, TSMC and Samsung may have a hard time finding engineers to work in the chip field.

Intel executive Raja Koduri cited Intel’s three new manufacturing facilities as an example. Up to 3,000 engineers with high technology knowledge will be needed in the factories to be opened in the USA and Germany. The absence of engineers to design and test the chips could slow down the factory’s operations.

“Your software people are not involved in the design of a CPU core and all its aspects. Hardware workers cannot work on high-level software, so something seems to be going wrong.”

Semiconductor chips, which are used in all areas of technology from cars to computers, are in a critical position for the growth of the industry. However, the decrease in the number of workers studying or working in the field of electrical-electronics may cause a new crisis for the sector.
