After the launch of NASA’s massive Artemis 1 rocket was delayed for some time due to technical problems and storms in previous trials, it finally took off within a 2-hour launch window and illuminated the Kennedy Space Center as it headed for the Moon. The Max Q was able to go through key stages seamlessly, including solid rocket booster launch, spacecraft adapter separation, and SLS first-stage separation. The flight went smoothly, with all four main sunbeams unfolding.

Artemis now follows an elliptical orbit around Earth, which will take a more circular shape prior to the translunar injection burn that will direct it towards the Moon.

Launch attempts of Artemis had previously occurred, first on August 29 and most recently on November 14. The trial on August 29 was canceled due to engine problems and hydrogen fuel leakage, and the next trial in late September similarly failed. The November 14 plan was canceled due to Storm Nicole…
