Record solar energy from Brazil
Brazil’s distributed generation sector, which broke a new record by reaching 7,017 MW in the public service sector, currently has an installed capacity of 14,986 MW. Brazil’s new record of 22 GW shows the country’s strong steps in this area. Because at the beginning of this, the installed solar energy was only 13 GW. Therefore, it is seen that 9 GW has been added so far this year alone. On the other hand, it should be noted that the installed solar energy amount in the country in 2016 was 148 MW.
ABSolar states that Brazil could finish this year with a cumulative PV capacity of 24.9 GW. Solar power could soon replace wind as the second renewable energy source in the nation’s electricity matrix, according to ABSolar. Hydroelectric energy, which accounts for 52.2% of all capacity as of November 3, continues to be the leader. On the other hand, the renewable energy generation capacity in Brazil corresponds to 85%, above the world average of 38%.
