We shared that Germany-based sports goods manufacturer Adidas will enter the recently very popular NFTs and Metaverse. Moreover, we mentioned in another news that Adidas was not the first company to do this, and that the world’s largest sports goods manufacturer Nike was also included in Metaverse and NFTs.
Now, NFTs released by Adidas as part of the project named “Into the Metaverse” are on sale. All of these 30,000 NFTs, which the company describes as ‘will work in both the real world and the Metaverse’, were sold out and sold for millions of dollars a few hours after the sale started yesterday.
All NFTs sold out in a few hours
First of all, Adidas’ NFTs; It is worth mentioning that it was developed in partnership with popular NFT collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punk Comics, and popular cryptocurrency enthusiast GMoney. Each of these NFTs was also sold for 0.2 ETH, or approximately $765, and sold out within hours.
In the statements made, it was stated that 29,620 of 30,000 NFTs were sold. Adidas stated that the remaining 380 NFTs are not sold for use in future events. It was also among the statements made that more than $22 million in revenue was achieved in sales made within a few hours. However, the decline in Ethereum (ETH) after the sale caused the profit to decrease as well.
The company has 20,000 of these NFTs; It has made available to people who own Adidas Originals tokens, GMonet tokens, Bored Ape NFTs, Mutant Ape NFTs, and Pixel Vault NFTs before other people. Because of this, the few remaining NFTs made it difficult for other people to purchase and prevented anyone who wanted them from owning Into the Metaverse NFTs.
‘This is just the beginning’
In addition, it was announced that the company will also offer physical products with digital prints (such as tracksuits and hooded sweaters) within the scope of Into the Metaverse. Now, the company has announced that these products will not be available until 2022, and those who want to purchase the products may have to pay expensive pre-order fees.
It remains unclear at the moment whether Adidas will come up with new NFTs in the future. However, considering the ‘this is just the beginning’ article on the company’s website, some NFTs are kept for future projects, and the Metaverse craze going on around the world, it would not be wrong to predict that the giant company will return to NFTs.
