Giant luxury and sports car brand Acura shared the first official photos of ARX-06, the car that will take place in the hybrid GTP category of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which will start in 2023, with an announcement made today.

The prototype race car, based on a chassis designed by ORECA, was designed in accordance with LMDh regulations and also qualified to compete in the top class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The vehicle has a camouflage design. Acura’s creative director, Dave Marek, shared some details on how the exterior of the vehicle was designed.

Eye-catching Acura ARX-06

Marek said: “The process we used to create the exterior of the Acura ARX-06 was to design a new Acura passenger car. exactly the same as how we created it. The same world-class stylists who led Acura production car design created the initial sketches and then narrowed them down to a few potential designs.”

Marek noted that the team created scale models of the cars to conduct aero and wind tunnel model tests. Acura’s designers then enlisted the assistance of Honda Performance Development to get their feedback on the car:

“The design has to be refined through the testing and evaluation process until we find a final finish that meets our performance targets while retaining all key Acura styling cues. continued. It’s been an exciting process.”
