Activision has announced the next games in the Call of Duty series. At this point, the sequels of 2019’s Modern Warfare and battle royale Warzone are coming. On the official Call of Duty blog, the developers stated that 2022 will be a year of change for the series, which will change the current state of the series.

Developed by the original creators of Call of Duty, Infinity Ward, a key part of the series in 2022, takes part in the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare, the reboot of the original 2007 game. In addition, Warzone 2 is also launching with it.

Call of Duty news overlaps with claims

There are not many detailed details about both games at the moment. The news about Call of Duty’s 2022 plans match up with last year’s rumors. These rumors suggested a refresh to Warzone and a return to the Modern Warfare sub-series. Additionally, it stated that they plan to update the technology that powers both games.

Modern Warfare 2019 has become quite popular among gamers. It quickly became the best-selling game in franchise history. The dev blog states that they are listening to community feedback to improve the online multiplayer mode for both Vanguard and Warzone, in addition to the plans for future games as well as general quality of life updates.

Warzone remains the popular online game. However, it also has some issues that hinder performance and gameplay. This sparked some backlash from fans.

This news has further increased the interest in Activison, which has been very active in recent months. With the recent and still controversial acquisition from Microsoft, the ongoing controversy over employee harassment and abuse still grabs people’s attention.

2022 represents a year of change for Call of Duty as well as its publisher, Activision. As we learn about new games in the future, we will have more details about how this change is.
