Game giant Activision Blizzard, which has become Tesla’s counterpart in the game world with the scandals it has been subject to and the lawsuits it has been subjected to in recent days, shared its revenues for the first half of 2022 as we entered the third quarter of the year.
As understood from the income statement published by the company, only mobile games constitute half of Activision Blizzard’s total revenue. When you hear about the income of King, the mobile game company of Activision, your lips will fly.
Revenue from mobile games alone is $685 million
If you haven’t heard of King, let’s explain; Candy Crush is the maker of popular mobile games such as Farm Heroes, Bubble Witch Saga and more. King generated $685 million in revenue for Activision Blizzard in the last quarter.
Activision became the highest-paid company in the console market with 360 million dollars. It generated $100 million in PC and $135 million in mobile sales, a large part of which came from Call of Duty Mobile. CoD Mobile generates even more revenue than CoD Vanguard.
Blizzard released the unpopular but profitable Diablo Immortal in early June, which grossed over $100 million. It managed to earn an additional $229 million from PC games like World of Warcraft and Overwatch, but only $19 million on consoles.
When we add up these numbers, we see that mobile games make up half of Activision Blizzard’s revenue. It is unlikely that Activision will want to prioritize mobile games from now on.
