Short-form video sharing platform TikTok has not offered the ability to reshare posts in the app until now. In order to publish a video they like on their own accounts, users must first save it on their phone and then upload it as a ‘new post’. The same is true for Instagram, which is linked to Meta.
In fact, there are some third-party software that allow sharing the post on the profile without having to download it manually. However, since these require full access to your account to work, it is important to keep in mind the possibility of your personal data being compromised. After Facebook and Twitter, ‘repost’ support is also coming to TikTok, which has 1 billion monthly users.
TikTok starts testing the ‘Repost’ button
The arch rival TikTok brought the ‘Repost’ button, which Instagram users wanted for years but could not achieve. The new button added to the sharing menu in the application was right next to other sharing options such as ‘WhatsApp Status’, ‘Instagram Stories’, ‘SMS’.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra shared a screenshot of the Repost button. The feature is activated when a user clicks the ‘Share’ button in the lower right corner of the video they want to share. Among the options on the screen; It seems that there is a ‘Repost’ icon at the top of the features such as sending the video to a TikTok friend, reporting.
According to the transmitted information, a video shared with the Repost feature will only be available to your followers. Matt Navarra, of one of his followers, said, “My only question is, where do the reposted posts appear? On the question of “I just tested it and it was not on my profile”, he replied, “I think it is only shown to his followers”. However, TikTok did not share any information confirming this.
The repost button is currently in the testing phase. It has also been made available to a limited number of user groups. However, it is unknown when it will be made available to the general public.
