At the end of last year in Turkey, there was an incident that went viral on the internet. In the incident that took place on September 19, 2020, a courier named Cihan Aksu made threats after the law enforcement officers took action against him in Tuzla, Istanbul, and said to a person he called, “Give me the number of the organization . . . “. Even though a year has passed, there has been a remarkable development regarding this unforgettable event.
The judgment hearing of Aksu, who was prosecuted after the events, was held today at the Anatolian 46th Criminal Court of First Instance. The court decided that Cihan Aksu, who was thought to have committed the crime of “resisting a public official in a chain of ways not to do his duty”, was not guilty. Aksu, who was released pending trial in previous periods, was acquitted of the case.
Up to 5 years and 3 months imprisonment
Aksu openly threatened the law enforcement officers by using the phrases “Send me the number of the organization or send me the number of my brother-in-law.” However, Anadolu 46th Criminal Court of First Instance said that Aksu’s lack of power and authority to influence the police was seen by the events and decided that there was no criminal element. Thus, the man who was asked to be imprisoned for up to 5 years and 3 months was acquitted of the case against him.
Cihan Aksu did not attend the last hearing at the Anatolian 46th Criminal Court of First Instance. However, the court board read the whole process at the hearing. During the reading, it was stated that the accused, who was tried pending trial, stated that what he meant by the organization was his family and friends. It is not known how the Turkish public will respond to this decision, but the chain of events has come to an end one way or another.
