The new Acer Swift Edge 16 comes with an OLED display with 16:10 aspect ratio, full DCI-P3 color coverage and 500 nits peak brightness. Acer used a slightly lower resolution panel this time: 3,200 x 2,000 pixels. However, this screen will now be able to offer high refresh rates up to 120 Hz. Acer also states that the new Swift Edge 16 will offer eight hours of runtime.The new Acer Swift Edge 16 features an eight-core (16-thread) Rzyen 7 7840U APU, which AMD says can outperform both Intel’s Core i7-1360P and the Apple M2 chipset in a variety of workloads. This processor is paired with up to 32 gigabytes of dual-channel LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of PCIe NVMe storage. On the gaming side, this chip has the power to perform satisfactorily in most games at 720/1080p resolution and low settings.
It should also be noted that Swift Edge 16 is qualified as a Microsoft Secured Core PC thanks to the Pluton security chip. The Ryzen CPU powering the new device also has an artificial intelligence engine that can be used by compatible software to provide additional functions such as Windows Studio Effects to improve the quality of video calls. According to Acer’s statement, Swift Edge 16 will be introduced to its owners in July. On the pricing side, the price of the device starts at $1,300 for the US market, and €1200 for the EU market. The starting price of the previous original model was $1500.
Acer Predator Triton 16 specifications
Acer’s second big announcement is the new Predator Triton 16, which will replace the Triton 300 SE 16. Better naming aside, the device comes equipped with an Intel Core i9-13900H CPU and Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. It also has configuration options of up to 32 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and up to two 2-terabyte M.2 SSDs.Design-wise, the Predator Triton 16 doesn’t look like a gaming laptop at first glance, until we notice the RGB keyboard. Acer says this was a conscious design choice, and that the slim and minimalist silver case will help the Predator Triton 16 adapt to a work environment where distractions must be kept to a minimum. In short, it is a device that can be used in the office for both work and play.
On the screen side of the device, there is a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display with a peak brightness of 500 nits and a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz and G-Sync technology. In addition, Acer’s dual-fan cooling solution using AeroBlade fans is included in the device. The company also states that it uses liquid metal in the CPU to improve thermal performance.
