An important decision was made today about the ‘Havrita’ application, which is the new agenda of social media. A decision was taken to block the application, which was brought to the agenda with the hashtag “#havritakapatılsın” and defined as “the map showing the density of dogs and the location of the negative events they cause”.

The decision in question was given by the Ankara 1st Criminal Court of Peace. The criminal complaint against Havrita was made by Muhammed Yusuf Damnalı, the lawyer of the Paw Guards Animal Protection Association (Paw Guard), which has been on the agenda with fraud allegations before.

The Istanbul Bar Association was also preparing to file a criminal complaint:

While the reactions to Havrita were on the agenda of social media, the Istanbul Bar Association took action. After the complaints and allegations, it was learned that the Istanbul Bar Association was also preparing to file a criminal complaint regarding the implementation. The statement of the Istanbul Bar Association was as follows:

“This is a crime that also threatens society and human health. Not only animals but also animal lovers become targets. When these markings are made, there are people who go to protect those animals. This brings with it some conflicts. Necessary interventions should be made as soon as possible.”

A statement came from Havrita

Making a statement as the spokesperson of the Havrita application, Attorney Devrim Koçak stated in his statement that the application was not established for the purpose of “Dogs are shown here, go and cause harm” and that it does not serve such a mission. Koçak said that since it started to be talked about on social media, there has been a great increase in the number of visitors to the application as a result of the lynching campaigns, and that approximately 4 thousand people entered the application within 1 hour. Koçak ended his statements with the words, “If a addict wants to harm a dog, he does not say ‘Let me look at the map’”.
