A developer alias DvorakDwarf has turned Google’s service into a full-blown Yandex.Disk and Google Drive-like service. So how did this happen? The software developer has written a custom program that packs ZIP files in video format for upload to YouTube, allowing users to use the platform as free storage. Files uploaded to Youtube can be downloaded at any time and converted from video format to ZIP format thanks to the program.
Youtube does not limit the number of video uploads.
This technique takes advantage of YouTube not placing a limit on the number of videos that can be uploaded. However, the developer warns users not to abuse this method, as action may be taken against them for violating the site’s terms of use. When trying to view ZIP files in video format uploaded to Youtube, a pitted video is displayed.
Note that currently you can only run the program on Linux. However, the developer of the project is likely to offer Windows support in the future.
