After the Sony Xperia 1 IV was not announced, it was thought that the Sony Xperia 5 IV might not be available. But a new leak indicates that Sony’s compact high-end lineup will continue on its way as normal.
Sumahodigest has detected a post on China’s largest social network Weibo with a partial feature list for the Sony Xperia 5 IV. The existence of such a feature list indicates that the phone is still under construction and the content of the list looks promising.
It looks like the Xperia 5 IV will have the same cameras as the Sony Xperia 1 IV. That is, it will be offered with 12MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide and probably most excitingly, 12MP telephoto cameras that can move seamlessly between 85mm and 125mm optical zoom ranges. This equates to 3.5x and 5.2x zoom based on the focal length of the main lens.
Also, the Sony Xperia 5 IV is said to be available in both 8GB and 12GB RAM options. The 12GB RAM option is 4GB more than offered in the Sony Xperia 5 III and is on par with the Xperia 1 IV.
With its 5,000 mAh battery, it is possible to have the same capacity as the Xperia 1 IV. However, it is also said to support wireless charging, which is not available in the previous model.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, 6.1 inch display and 128GB or 256GB storage option are also listed. Interestingly, Android 13 is also mentioned, but there’s a question mark next to it, so probably the source doesn’t seem sure about it.
As always when it comes to leaks, it is useful to approach information with suspicion, especially since this source has not leaked anything in the past…
