The National Women’s Football League is coming to FIFA 23. Electronic Arts announced Monday that all 12 NWSL teams will be playable in the game from March 15, thanks to the company’s licensing partnership it recently signed with the league and the NWSL Players Association.
FIFA 23 was released with all 24 teams in the Women’s Super League and Division 1 in England and France. The game was also the first time EA featured a female player on the cover, and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr was featured on the Ulitmate Edition. As a result, the series has come a long way since FIFA 16, when EA first added professional female players.
On March 15, all 12 NWSL teams will be playable in FIFA 23’s Kick-Off game modes. Players will also be able to play in the Tournament Mode of the game, as well as Online Seasons and Friendlies. EA says that if both teams are from the NWSL, players will experience an “authentic” match broadcast experience. The company is also adding the option to play through the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) to Kick-Off and Tournament game modes. It also adds 4 new European clubs, including Juventus and Real Madrid, to complete the UWCL experience.
NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman said: “The athletes who call NWSL their home are some of the best in the world, and we are excited to have the opportunity to further showcase their talents through this unique gaming experience,” adding: “We can’t wait for the fans to start playing, and on March 25, we’re going to be 11 We look forward to continuing this celebration of the players and the league as we kick off our ‘th season.”
FIFA 23 is playable on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
