READING NOW A “strawberry warning” was issued in the USA. The reason is that some strawberries cause serious illness…

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently warned buyers of fresh HEB and FreshKampo organic strawberries between March 5 and April 25 not to eat them.

The FDA, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Canadian health agencies are investigating a multi-state hepatitis A outbreak believed to be linked to strawberries. In the US, there have been at least 17 cases of hepatitis A and 12 hospitalizations linked to the outbreak, the FDA said. The last person who got sick fell ill on April 30. At least 10 cases have been reported in Canada. Strawberries were sold at stores like Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Aldi, and Safeway.

Even though strawberries are bruised or expired by now, some people may have put them in the freezer for later use. Institution, those who have frozen strawberries in their fridge; If unsure about the brand, when you buy it, or whether your strawberries are covered by the FDA’s warning, she recommends throwing them away.

Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus, which is responsible for filtering the blood and other important functions. While most people recover fully (and many people in the US are vaccinated against it), symptoms can last weeks to months and cause more serious conditions in some people.

FreshKampo says that the no longer shipped strawberries have a label on the plastic that says “Distributed by Meridian Fruits.” HEB, on the other hand, said in a statement that it has not bought or sold organic strawberries from the supplier under investigation since April 16.

Unlike other types of hepatitis, such as hepatitis C, hepatitis A does not typically cause chronic liver damage. However, it can cause serious problems for some people, including older adults and people with chronic liver disease.
