As part of the new iCloud+ subscription service introduced at WWDC 2021, Apple introduced iCloud Private Relay. This feature is designed to provide an additional layer of privacy and security to users by sending requests through two separate internet relays to mask user information. Private Relay is currently available as a “beta” feature for iCloud+ subscribers. However, according to a new report, this may change with iOS 16, which will be released later this year.
Apple takes new steps in security with iOS 16!
According to the information received, Apple is planning a few new features in iOS 16 this year to take even tighter measures against user data tracking. Charles Manning, CEO of mobile analytics measurement company Kochava, also revealed that he believes Apple will strengthen its privacy focus by expanding Private Relay.
Manning made the following statements in his statement:
Apple’s willingness to build technological firewalls and its logical approach policy indicates that they will rely on Private Relay as a technical enforcement mechanism. is showing.
I believe Apple will explain that customers love Private Relay and it is very successful. They will make Private Relay an always-on feature within the app.
iCloud Private Relay works in the Safari app for iCloud+ subscribers. This system is not active for most in-app traffic and certain features in Mail except Safari. However, if the reports are correct, Apple may make Private Relay an always-on feature in other applications.
As another security measure, Apple is currently doing IP redirects for all users in Safari when visiting websites. Redirection continues for all users, regardless of whether they are an iCloud+ subscriber or not.
Many sources believe that Apple will take more steps in terms of security and privacy with iOS 16. So what do you think about Apple and its security practices? You can share your views with us in the comments section or on the SDN Forum.
