Mozilla Firefox continues to make important improvements for privacy, although it has lost market share in recent years. Mozilla, which does not want to send users’ data to servers, has developed a new add-on for Firefox.
You will be able to translate without the need for an internet connection
With the new add-on, Firefox will not need an internet connection for translation and will not share data with servers. Thus, a safer translation experience will be offered. Mozilla’s new plugin was developed within the scope of Project Bergamot supported by the European Union. The new plugin will download some files to the user’s computer on its first run, after which the language models and in-page translation algorithms will all reside on the user’s computer and be executed locally.
Google Assistant loses location-based reminder
Mozilla’s new plugin only works between English and 12 languages for now. These languages are Spanish, Bulgarian, Czech, Estonian, German, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian Bokmal and Nynorsk, Persian, Portuguese and Russian. Mozilla seeks users’ help in adding and testing new languages. Mozilla’s new extension is still in the testing phase, but will offer a more global experience as time goes on.
