Chip shipments are expected to reach 427.7 billion units

According to IC Insights, shipments of chips that reached 391.8 billion units with a jump of 22% last year, are expected to reach a total of 427.7 billion units in 2022 with an increase of 9.2%. . In addition, 30 of the 33 main chip categories determined by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) will see an increase and a growth of more than 9.2 percent will be experienced in 12 categories.

However, we can say that shipments of IC units in 2022 will be almost 5 times higher than in 2000, and approximately 44 times higher than in 1980. Reporting that global chip sales will continue to increase in the coming years, IC Insights believes that by 2026, the integrated circuit compound annual growth rate (CAGR) will be 7 percent and will fall below the 42-year historical rate of 9.4 percent.
