It’s been nine months since we last saw a new Starship prototype emerge from the SpaceX factory in Texas. And the unfinished rocket, now called the S24, has left the factory for proficiency testing. However, the company led by Elon Musk still needs regulatory approval to launch this rocket, even for testing.

The launch of the prototype S24 is seen as a potential sign that SpaceX is on track to conduct the first orbital flight test of a fully finished Starship rocket later this year, as promised by the company’s founder and CEO Musk. SpaceX had planned to launch 12 Starships in 2022. Half of the year is over and that plan looks overly optimistic right now.

Elon Muski broke the news on Twitter with the following tweet:

Starship, It was designed to transport cargo and passengers to Earth orbit, the Moon and Mars. Musk describes the ship as “a transport mechanism that will work throughout the Solar System”. In the first place, according to the NASA contract, it should have the ability to land astronauts on the Moon. The space agency wants to land astronauts on the Moon’s surface by 2025, which is what SpaceX has to offer. A completely finished Starship rocket has yet to be seen flying.

The sudden appearance of the Starship prototype S24 is therefore considered a positive development. The unfinished unit left the SpaceX factory and was transported to a test site. NASASpaceflight A video posted on YouTube’s YouTube channel shows the new rocket. You can watch the video below:
