YouTube plans to expand beyond the standard cast-to-TV option available for mobile phones. The company has rolled out a new feature designed to let users do more than just stream video from their phone to the TV screen. By connecting their Android or iOS phone to the TV, viewers can now use their phone as a second screen to interact with YouTube videos through a variety of activities, including likes, shares or comments. This new feature also expands the options for YouTube Shorts fans.

You can watch YouTube on a smart TV or phone through their own apps, but some users use the cast feature to stream their content from their phone to the TV screen. While broadcasting, viewers use their phones to react, share links or subscribe to YouTube videos. With this new feature, YouTube allows you to sync your phone and TV viewing experiences with one click.

YouTube introduces a new way to connect both devices instead of tapping the phone’s broadcast icon to connect to your TV. To use this feature, you need to log in to the YouTube app on your TV and phone with the same account.

According to YouTube, this new feature “makes it easier than ever to read video descriptions, leave a comment, share the video with a friend, or support your favorite creators by sending a Super Chat or subscribing.”
