Finding a parking space for your vehicle may not always be easy, and you may consume a lot of fuel during this quest. Fortunately, Apple is making this easy for those who use Apple Maps – at least those in the US and Canada.

Apple Maps is getting a new parking feature that shows users parking options near their destination and notifies them of availability. Thanks to Apple’s partnership with Chicago-based parking reservation service SpotHero, users in the US and Canada can get parking information for more than 8,000 locations in 300 cities.

iPhone and Mac users in the US and Canada need to search for a destination via the Apple Maps app and select More > Parking to use this feature. They are then redirected to SpotHero’s website, where they can search for a nearby parking spot and book it using the various secure payment options within the app. When a user pays, parking is reserved and given a digital parking card that can be added to their Apple Wallet. Then they can go to their destination, scan the QR codes when they arrive at the parking area and park their vehicles.

Users can filter their searches by date, time and valet services, wheelchair accessibility and parking spaces with electric vehicle charging.

“We are constantly finding new ways to provide drivers with easy, cost-effective parking,” SpotHero CEO and co-founder Mark Lawrence told TechCrunch. Working with Apple Maps is one way to do it. “With our new integration, Apple Maps users can explore SpotHero parking spaces directly in Apple Maps on iPhone and Mac.”
