Samsung has announced version 4.0 of its Universal Flash Storage solution, which will be used in a variety of smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. The UFS 4.0 storage space, which will appear in the next versions of its devices, is expected to make Samsung’s devices much faster than before.

The UFS 4.0 announcement means that Samsung will use this new storage solution in the next Galaxy S series model, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Probably the first devices with UFS 4.0 will be the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, and they will probably come with 1TB of storage capacity.

So what will UFS 4.0 bring?

According to Samsung’s statement, UFS 4.0 offers up to 23.2 Gb/s bandwidth, thus promising twice the performance of UFS 3.1. Described as perfect for 5G smartphones, especially with the potential to handle large amounts of data, UFS 4.0 is based on Samsung’s 7th generation NAND technology. UFS 4.0, showing 4200 MB/s sequential reading and 2800 MB/s sequential writing performance, will thus strengthen the hand of the end consumer who is looking for high performance in smartphones.

On the other hand, mobile devices using UFS 4.0 will be able to achieve higher read and write speeds, and the new technology is expected to be more efficient with less power consumption.
