Facebook seems to be working on bringing a new community feature to its messaging platform WhatsApp, which it also owns. The feature that has not been activated yet is WhatsApp beta v2. 21. 21. Found by XDA Developers among the codes of version 6.
Experts examining the code say that this new feature will be different from WhatsApp group chats, but there is no clear information on what the difference is. However, looking at some code fragments, it is seen that WhatsApp’s functioning has changed when users start using the Community feature, and community managers are able to invite people here with links and QR codes.
It is unknown at this time whether WhatsApp Communities will replace WhatsApp groups or stand as an additional feature, but looking at the codes, it seems more likely to be an additional feature. However, WhatsApp may also have plans to develop groups and convert them into community format.
