Apple is developing a new workstation called Mac Studio, which appears to be a hybrid between Mac Mini and Mac Pro.
According to 9to5Mac’s report, Mac Studio is being developed in two different versions. The first of these versions will include the M1 Max chip (which was also used in last year’s 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro models), while the second will use a more powerful Apple chip variant than the M1 Max; this could be the M2.
Mac Studio’s internal codename is said to be J375 and will be aimed at the professional market. In addition, the fact that Apple Studio Display matches the rumors that it is being developed supports this claim. If these rumors are true, it can be predicted that Apple will probably market these products together for professional work.
It’s also not the first time we’ve heard of Mac Studio. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously stated that Apple is working on a smaller Mac Pro that will use an Apple chip containing 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores.
As with all other rumors about Apple, these claims have not been confirmed yet. Apple will host its March event this week, where it is expected to introduce new Mac devices, but no Mac Pro devices are expected to be introduced. WWDC will be a much more likely launch scene for professional gear, and since it’s so soon, we might see Mac Studio then…
