Apple introduced the iPhone 14 series last September. One of the most striking points in the iPhone 14 series was the accident detection feature. With this system, which detects any traffic accident and automatically notifies the authorities of the situation, it is aimed to save many lives.
New warning from Apple for accident detection feature
Although the technology giant has set out in a very well-intentioned way, in the past process, it has been revealed that the accident detection feature works incorrectly in some cases. It has been determined that the accelerometer used to detect accidents can be triggered in some situations other than the accident.
Especially during extreme sports and when riding the roller coaster, it was seen that the accident detection feature dialed an emergency number. Although the phone sends a loud notification to the user in this case, some iPhone owners unfortunately do not hear this sound. And so the emergency call is made.
False emergency calls made by Apple owners in the past have become a major problem for authorities. Another problem was that the users, who realized the situation after the call was made, immediately ended the emergency call. Because of the interrupted calls, the emergency services are wasting time by taking action in vain.
Trying to solve this problem, Apple implemented the first method that comes to mind. Apple has updated the usage information for the crash detection feature. In the update, ‘do not hang up if the call was made but you do not need the emergency service. Wait until someone answers, then explain that you don’t need help’.
