Capcom has made a big impact in the industry with its Resident Evil Remake productions in recent years. In fact, Resident Evil 4, presented this year, was even nominated to be the game of the year at the Game Awards. The success of productions in the horror-action genre opens the door to the development of new remakes.
Director confirmed: New Resident Evil Remake games are on the way
Resident Evil 4 Remake director Yasuhiro Anpo made important statements at the PlayStation State of Play event held in Japan. Accordingly, he stated that the company is working on new projects and that they will continue to develop the Resident Evil series.
Capcom stated that it wants to bring classic survival horror games to modern platforms. The Japanese company first achieved remarkable success with Resident Evil 2 and 3. Director Anpo said that with these projects, they were able to carry the legendary games of the 90s to new generations.
The director of RE 4 did not reveal which game is next. However, there are some possible candidates among the leaks made so far. Resident Evil: Code Veronica is thought to be the next game to be developed. This production serves as an important bridge between RE3 and RE5 in terms of story.
The first Resident Evil, which was reimagined for the GameCube in 2002, has also not been renewed yet. It is thought that this game could be redeveloped using the RE Engine that powered RE 2 and 3. The modernized re-release of the first game may attract the attention of both new and old players.
Other potential options include Resident Evil 0, 5 and 6. However, redeveloping these games may require a major overhaul of their stories and designs.
