A Guide Explaining All the Details of the Right to Be Forgotten from KVKK

Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) made a reminder for users who want to forget about themselves in the increasingly digital world. Stating that everyone has the “right to be forgotten”, the institution has prepared a detailed guide on this subject. The 44-page guide sheds light on how users can make themselves forget on the internet.

The right to be forgotten is one of the rights that have been in our lives for years but that many of us are not even aware of. Thanks to this right, any individual can delete all information about him on the Internet. This is exactly what KVKK put its finger on. The guide titled “Assessment of the Right to Be Forgotten by Search Engines” explains what users who want to be forgotten should do and what this right is based on within the framework of the law.

Emphasis was placed on Article 20 of the Constitution

In the KVKK’s guide titled Evaluation of the Right to be Forgotten Specific to Search Engines, it is stated that the right to be forgotten is first of all guaranteed by Article 20 of the Constitution. In addition, the guide reminding the decisions taken by the KVKK regarding the right to be forgotten, the criteria required for users to forget themselves are also included.
