An eBay sale posting popped up last week that probably got a lot of attention from game console collectors. The France-based one sells its collection of over 2,200 consoles. The asking price for this slice of the game history is set at €984,000.
According to Google Translate, the vendor using the name Kaori30 says the collection covers 50 years of gaming history. Console variants offered only through competitions are also included in the collection. As noted by Kotaku, the list includes several hundred games, some sculptures, and other collectibles, as well as consoles.
Kaori30 says they started the collection in the early 90’s but sold everything they had a few years later. They said they started collecting consoles again ten years later, and stopped in 2011 due to lack of time and the harder it was to find rarer parts. Later, after visiting Japan in 2018, their passion reignited and they managed to buy back almost everything they sold and many more consoles.
The collector estimates there are between 200 and 300 pieces not found anywhere else, making the collection quite unique. The treasury listed details many, if not all, Nintendo products, including at least 20 Nintendo 64 variants. Still, the Kaori30, which has an excellent positive feedback score on eBay, promises to have it all in the collection, including the Sega and Neo Geo consoles.
Looking at the photos provided by the seller, it can be seen that there are many other devices including PlayStation, Xbox and TurboGrafx hardware and even an Ouya.
