Bodegraven-Reeuwijk is a small town in the Netherlands with a population of 35,000. However, this town has been in a lot of trouble because of the allegations made about it since 2020. The town is quite annoyed by this situation and has filed a lawsuit against Twitter, where the allegations were circulated, to fix it.
According to the allegations, first made by three men in 2020, more than one child was abused and killed in the town in the 1980s. At the same time, these people were a devil-worshipping gang. The residents of the town, who were very disturbed by all these allegations, took these three men to court last year. The court ordered the three men to remove all tweets they had posted about the town.
Town sued, Twitter didn’t comment
The three men behind the Bodegraven allegations are currently in jail. Despite the lawsuit last year, stories about Bodegraven still circulate on Twitter. Because of the allegations, hundreds of people began to visit the cemetery in the town and lay flowers on the child graves.
The town’s Mayor, Christiaan van der Kamp, said the allegations were “very painful and sometimes even threatening to the relatives of the deceased.” The townspeople and local government, who are quite disturbed by this situation, want the post shared on Twitter about all the alleged incidents to be removed. A lawsuit was filed against Twitter regarding this situation.
Cees van de Zanden, a lawyer for the town of Bodegraven, said in a statement that he had asked Twitter to find and remove all messages related to the Bodegraven story, but had not received any response from the company so far.
