We can say that it is always interesting to make a modern application run on older operating systems. Developer FrankCYB recently improved the working capabilities of the ChatGPT chatbot application and published its JavaGPT on GitHub, as reported via Windows Central.
FrankCYB describes the application, which he says will run on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8, as well as Windows 10 and 11, which Microsoft currently supports: “I’m excited to share with you a Java application I developed that works on older versions of Windows. I hear. Now you can access ChatGPT and all its features through a user-friendly Java GUI on almost any operating system.”
Key features of JavaGPT
- Chat Stream: Allows responses to be generated in real time, just like on the ChatGPT website.
- Chat History: Allows you to interact with previous chats just like on the website.
- Undo Chats: Ability to override previous prompts and responses from the chat.
- HTML Viewer: View your chat content in HTML. Supports Markdown Language syntax.
- Chat Topics: automatically creates a topic for a chat based on its content. It can be changed manually according to preference.
- Import ready prompts
- Saving chats to file
- Dark mode and right click copy-edit-paste features
- Support for ChatGPT 4 and all ChatGPT 3.5 models
- Cross-platform work
- Only 6mb build size.
Because JavaGPT is an open source project, anyone can download the program’s code from GitHub and check it out. However, because this application is based on the latest Java 8 version, Windows versions older than Windows 98, including Windows 95, cannot currently use JavaGPT. Also, keep in mind that this is a third-party application not supported by OpenAI or Microsoft, so using it is entirely at your own risk.
