AMD is about to complete its preparations for the Threadripper Pro 7000 processors, which will be the successor to the Zen3-based Threadripper 5000 series. Finally, after a long wait, some important details about the new generation Threadripper platform have emerged.

Threadripper PRO 7000 coming this fall

For those who don’t know, Threadripper Pro 7000 “Storm Peak” processors will offer significant upgrades compared to the Threadripper 5000 series. In addition to architectural improvements, these include DDR5, PCIe Gen5 support and a new socket that will work with the TRX50 motherboard series. Today’s leak revealed the release date and features of the new generation Threadripper PRO processors.

Accordingly, the autumn period is indicated in the Northern Hemisphere for AMD Threadripper PRO 7000 processors. This means that the new series could be released in a few days. Therefore, we may encounter a surprise announcement in a few days.

According to leaked images, it has been confirmed that the new generation Threadripper processors will support up to 96 cores and will offer a 20 percent performance increase compared to the current series. Therefore, the 20 percent performance claim we just mentioned may emphasize single-core performance.

In the image just above, we see the 56-core Xeon W9-3495X facing the Intel Xeon w9-3495X. At this point, the Xeon W9-3495X completes the same processor in 657 seconds, compared to its competitor’s result of 1125 seconds (+75%).

According to leaks, there will be at least four different models in the Threadripper PRO 7000 family; 96-core PRO 7995WX, 64-core 7985WX, 32-core 7975WX and 16-core 7955WX. Details of other models are currently unclear. In addition, it has been confirmed that the highest clock speed on the platform will be 5.1 GHz and the TDP range will be between 70 and 350W. However, we will have to wait until AMD’s official announcement for full details.
