The US Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in California is testing car titles and title transfers on the Tezos network.

The California DMV operates on a special Tezos testnet it calls the shadow ledger. Oxhead Alpha was used for these processes. In fact, this work aims to build the agency’s existing data on the blockchain.

California DMV director Ajay Gupta said the agency wants to complete the shadow book within the next three months. In the midst of these processes, DMV wants to launch applications such as digital wallets to hold and transfer digital car data, as an intermediary to oversee such activities.

Andrew Smith, head of Oxhead Alpha, argued that the California DMV, along with its blockchain initiatives, is modernizing its existing based systems.
