MEB Amended the Regulation on Establishing Institutions

The Ministry of National Education made changes in opening institutions with the regulation published in the Official Gazette in the past hours. Accordingly, primary schools can now be opened in settlements such as villages, if the governor's office approves, regardless of the number of students. It was also stated in the statements that the capacity requirement for opening a hostel was reduced from 100 to 50.

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has announced that it has made important changes regarding schools. Amendment to the Regulation ‘The Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on Opening, Closing and Naming Institutions of the Ministry of National Education’ was published in the Official Gazette in the past hours and officially entered into force.

In the new decisions taken by the Ministry of National Education; It was noted that important regulation changes were made on issues such as kindergartens, school hostels and village schools. In addition, it was stated that the next institution opening and closing procedures will be carried out with the building sequence numbers of the Ministry of National Education Geographical Information System (MEBCBS) and the building inventory will be kept up-to-date.

The student capacity requirement for opening hostels has been reduced to 50

According to the new regulations published in the Official Gazette, changes have been made to the conditions required for the opening of school hostels. The change in the regulation revealed that the student capacity requirement for the opening of school hostels, which was 100 before, was reduced to 50.

In addition, it was stated that the number of students should be at least 20 in order to open a kindergarten and conditions such as an activity/game room would be sought. The number of students required to open the practice class and kindergarten is 10; It was stated that the classrooms of these classes would have to be in the bright and sunny part of the building on the ground floor. It was stated that when the conditions required for the classroom could not be met, the classrooms could be opened on the floors where heat, light and ventilation were provided on the other floors.

Primary schools can be opened in villages regardless of the number of students

The Ministry of National Education took part in the articles related to villages and similar schools in the regulation change regarding pre-school education institutions. According to this, kindergarten classes can be opened in settlements with a small and scattered population (such as villages), provided that there are at least 5 children. In addition, it was stated that if the governorship deems it appropriate, primary schools can be opened in such settlements regardless of the number of students. Finally, let’s add that educational institutions were closed when the number of students in pre-school and primary schools fell below 10.
