WhatsApp added ‘chat list filters’ to its Business app last year, which allows businesses to interact with their customers. With this feature, chats can be tidied up by filtering them according to four criteria: Contacts, Not Saved in Contacts, Unread and Groups.

Unfortunately, individual WhatsApp users cannot filter chats as the feature is limited to businesses. However, according to WABetaInfo, Meta will change that in a future version of the app.

Chat filtering feature is coming to WhatsApp

WABetaInfo, which has revealed the new features of WhatsApp before it is available, has announced that the chat list filtering function will come. Currently, chats can be filtered in the desktop UWP app. However, the feature was not available in Android, iOS and WhatsApp Web versions.

Filters will make it easier to find chats in the WhatsApp app. For example, suppose you need a conversation with someone who is not registered in your contacts. Instead of wasting time searching for a needle in a haystack among dozens of chats, you will be able to handle this request with the “Not registered in Contacts” filter.

According to WABetaInfo’s share, the feature will come to individual WhatsApp accounts with a big difference: The filter button will appear even when you are not searching for chats and messages. Also, filters cannot be deleted or changed. If you’ve never used filters before, you can see how it will work in the screenshot above.

Refreshing the Mac application

While WhatsApp continues to add new features, it does not neglect applications. According to the information revealed, it is developing a new desktop application that will run natively on macOS. Moreover, it will not only support iPhone, but also Android devices. Thus, those who do not use iOS will also be able to benefit from the application.
