It has been announced that Battle.net, the game client of Activision Blizzard, which has managed to become one of the most popular game studios with games such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, was hacked at night. In the statements made on the company’s Twitter account, it was stated that the attack type was DDoS. The attack, which continued for at least an hour, ended without any data breach.

Activision Blizzard’s first statement on the subject was made around 02:00. Officials, who said that players may encounter problems such as high ping or direct disconnection in this process, announced that they were working to repel the attack. In the second statement made at around 03:30, it was stated that there was no problem and that Battle.net could be entered safely.

Almost every game experienced a problem

When we look at the data on interrupt notification platforms such as Downdetector, we see that the DDoS attack affects almost all games within Activision Blizzard. Players have had trouble accessing games like Diablo III, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, and Call of Duty, and playing even if they can. As of now, it seems that there is no trace of this attack. By the way, it is not known who or by whom the attack was carried out and for what purpose.

To be honest, this isn’t the first time Battle.net has been hacked. The software suffered a similar DDoS attack last year and was unable to provide a healthy service for more than 1 hour. It looks like the hackers will continue to target Battle.net…
