The bill on mucilage, which reached serious dimensions in the Marmara Sea last year and threatens underwater life, was finally prepared. The AK Party’s 30-item mucilage arrangement will be presented to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey this week.
With the prepared bill, it is planned to keep the Sea of Marmara clean and to punish those who do not comply with the regulation. In addition, sanctions will be imposed on municipalities that do not clean the sea.
Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant will be mandatory
It will be obligatory to establish Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plants in all provinces adjacent to the Marmara Basin. All domestic and industrial wastewater will be subjected to advanced biological treatment and water will be recovered in treatment plants. Thanks to the Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plants, the nitrogen-phosphorus load of the Marmara Sea will be reduced.
Mucilage statement from the Minister Institution
Authorization to establish Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant will be given to municipalities. If the municipalities do not prepare a project within the period determined by the law, this authority will automatically pass to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. The Ministry will deduct these costs from the source of the relevant municipality. Administrative penalties will be applied to those who do not establish facilities.
With the proposal, various rules are introduced for the waste of industrial facilities. Facilities that do not comply with these rules will be fined. After the regulation is submitted to the Parliament, all the details of 30 articles will be revealed.
