At first, 4K resolutions started to spread towards both screens and content, now studies are being made for 8K resolutions. Qualcomm made a reference to the world’s first 8K HDR recording phone.
The first 8K HDR smartphone
A video shared by Qualcomm from its YouTube account points to a smartphone that records video in 8K HDR resolution for the first time. Using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, the phone has a 33MP Sony IMX586 main sensor. The phone, which achieves professional-level results, offers sharper images by scaling to 4K resolution.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ delayed to second half of 2022
Although the details are not known yet, the phone is estimated to be Xiaomi 12 Pro. Using the 18-bit image signal processor Snapdragon Sight, the phone can record 10-bit HDR video with more than 1 billion colors.
The capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset are highlighted here. Features such as 108MP support in a single camera, 33MP support in 3 cameras, 24-bit 96kHz audio recording, 240 12MP frames per second are included in many flagships today.
