Bored Ape Yacht Club fans defrauded
According to the latest news, Yuga Labs Bored Ape Yacht Club members have become the new target of scammers. Yuga Labs recently made its new collection Otherdeed available for purchase. Interest in the Otherside crypto-based video game, which is part of the collection, was greater than expected.
In a short time, many users were lining up to buy land from Otherside. However, due to the intensity experienced right after the lands were opened for sale, some users had problems in their payments. Users, who stated that their payments were deducted from their accounts but nothing they received appeared, became the target of fraudsters after the news spread. The scammers scammed $3.7 million by telling users they’d ‘refund their gas payments’ via phishing sites impersonating Otherside.
Crypto security firm Pechkshield discovered that the scammers had at least five Twitter accounts with the corresponding website. These accounts, which trap the user with the lie that NFT has fallen, misled the user and took over their accounts by asking them to connect their digital wallets. In this incident, users suffered a total loss of 3.7 million dollars. Of course, there was another break in the trust in the popular NFT collection.
