Some users with Apple TV have been complaining about Dolby Atmos sound issue on external speaker connected to set-top box. Judging by the messages on the Apple support forums, the issue started in September of 2021.

Users report that when listening to Dolby Atmos content, the sound sometimes cuts out completely and becomes silent, out of sync with the video on the screen, or is interrupted in places.
Workaround found
Issue affects both Apple’s own apps and third-party apps including Netflix and YouTube . Some users say that they have temporarily fixed the problem by disabling Dolby Atmos in device settings.
Apple, the number one addressee of the subject, has not yet commented on the situation. The company is expected to fix the annoying Dolby Atmos problem with a tvOS update that it will release in the coming days.
