OpenSea, the platform with additional high volume among NFT marketplaces, last suffered a cyberattack last February; In this attack, 254 NFTs worth $1.7 million belonging to 17 users of the platform were stolen. Now the platform seems to have become the target of hackers again.

Accordingly, it was announced that OpenSea was once again cyber-attacked. OpenSea, whose official Discord account became the target of phishing thieves with the attack; It states that it has started to investigate the vulnerability by warning all its users on Twitter.

OpenSea’s Discord channel fell into the hands of identity thieves. After the cyber-attack, the hackers shared a link to a phishing site on the channel, which they said was “so-called” partner with YouTube, and stated that their aim was to involve the YouTube community in the NFT industry. Moreover, cyber attackers tried to lure users into phishing sites and ensnare them, promising a limited number of whitelists to first applicants.

It was revealed that the event was a phishing, with users reporting the situation via Twitter. While it was reported that at least $18,000 worth of NFT was stolen in the attack, no information has yet been shared about how the cyber crooks hacked the Discord channel.

The impact of the attack is ‘limited’

Speaking to The Verge on the subject, OpenSea spokesperson Allie Mack said in a statement, “Last night an attacker was bad on many of our Discord channels. “We were able to post malicious links. We noticed the malicious links soon after they were posted and took immediate steps to rectify the situation, including removing the malicious bots and accounts. We also warned our community through our Twitter support channel not to click on any links on our Discord.”

Noting that they continue to actively investigate the attack, Mack said, “Our preliminary analysis shows that the attack has a limited impact. We are currently aware of less than 10 affected wallets and less than 10 ETH stolen items. ”
