Benedict Cumberbatch Takes A Break From Acting

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the newest movie of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), was released today. The long-awaited production, which brought together the characters of Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff and focused on the concept of multiverse, divided the audience into two, causing both negative and positive comments.

We know that the main character of the movie is Oscar-nominated actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The actor, who has played many iconic roles such as Sherlock Holmes and Alan Turing apart from Doctor Strange, has now made important statements about both his role in Marvel and his career in general, in a new interview.

Benedict Cumberbatch announced that he is taking a hiatus from acting

The 45-year-old British actor announced to IGN that he will take a break from acting for a while after the new Doctor Strange movie. Cumberbatch, who was nominated for the Academy Award for the second time with the movie The Power of the Dog in the past months, added that he enjoyed playing different variants of Doctor Strange in the new movie of the MCU.

Referring to this situation, the actor stated in response to a question that he would be happy to replace a ‘less busy’ variant of himself in real life and explained his decision to take a break: “I would like to swap places with a less busy variant of myself. I could be that person soon. It’s nice to take a break for a while.” These statements showed that we will not be able to see the successful actress on the screens for a while.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, released today, features Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Xochitl Gomez, Rachel McAdams and many other famous names besides Cumberbatch. Sam Raimi, known for horror films and the first Spider-Man trilogy, is in the director’s chair of the production.
