One of the largest manufacturers in the processor world, Qualcomm closed last year with a large income despite the coronavirus epidemic that marked the industry. The company, which made a name for itself with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is seen as the best in the smartphone field by many, has accelerated its preparations for the new name of the series.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, coming in the second half of 2022

Qualcomm is considering a radical change to use TSMC’s 4nm chip instead of Samsung in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset. It was originally rumored to be released in May and will begin receiving its first mission in June. However, the plans seem to have been delayed.

According to Digital Chat Station, which has made a name for itself with leak information in the smartphone world, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is coming in the second half of 2022. The source identified the reason for this delay as coronavirus. So much so that although it seems to have reduced its impact all over the world, cases increased in China last month, causing many factories to close.

As it is known, China carries out the “zero-covid” policy as the place where the epidemic first broke out. This policy has also negatively affected many important technology companies such as Qualcomm. Because Zhengzhou, also known as the iPhone City and making up a large share of Apple production, had gone to closure indefinitely due to the epidemic.

It was previously said that a part of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor will be produced by TSMC. However, it was stated that the reason for this was due to the global chip crisis. However, Qualcomm has agreed with TSMC for the production of the product, which is expected to be released in the coming months, with the name Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. On the other hand, the exact release date of the processor is not yet known.
