Microsoft Edge was a solid browser when it first came out, with unique features, good productivity, and useful optimizations for touchscreen computers. But its engine was causing compatibility issue. For this reason, it could not increase its market share to the desired levels.
To popularize Edge, Microsoft switched to the Chromium engine, and seven years later, Microsoft Edge is steadily gaining popularity. According to the latest data from StatCounter, Microsoft’s browser managed to pass the 10 percent mark in April 2022. Edge has already been attracting attention with its regular increase in the number of users over the last few months.
Of course, Google Chrome still has a long way to go to approach its 66.64 percent market share. But at least for now, it has taken the title of “second most used web browser”.
